Amrita Rao says Shahid Kapoor and she were not even friends during Vivah. What link-up?
Back when Amrita Rao and Shahid Kapoor were together in Ishq Vishq and Vivah, there were rumours that the two were dating, especially given their sizzling on-screen chemistry. However, did you know the two were not even friends?
When talking about Amrita Rao, one cannot not talk about Ishq Vishq (2003) and Vivah (2006), two films that were milestones, of sorts, in her career. And in both, she happened to have been cast opposite Shahid Kapoor. While Ishq Vishq was Shahid's debut film, the two young actors were cast in Sooraj Barjatya's Vivah three years later, given how popular their on-screen jodi had become.
Back in the day, it was speculated that Shahid and Amrita were dating, and it seemed quite believable given their sizzling on-screen chemistry. However, in a recent interview, Amrita Rao revealed that Shahid and she were not even friends, let alone be lovebirds!
AMRITA RAO AND SHAHID KAPOOR WERE NOT EVEN FRIENDS
When asked about link-up rumours that did the rounds back then, Amrita Rao told Times Of India in an interview, "Shahid was always in a relationship when I was his co-star. The funny part is that Shahid and I have only been very good colleagues, we were not even friends who hung out with each other."

Amrita goes on to say that despite a strictly professional relationship, both had tremendous respect for each other. "We have tremendous respect for each other as artists," she said. Amrita also added that she is aware that the audience hoped that the two of them were a real-life couple, but that wasn't the case at all. "Yes, the audience always wished that we were a real-life couple but that had only got to do with our tremendous on-screen popularity," she added.
WHY DID AMRITA AND SHAHID NOT WORK TOGETHER AFTER VIVAH?
Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao worked together in Ishq Vishq and Vivah. Ishq Vishq happened to be Shahid's debut, by the time Vivah released, the audience was in love with their adorable on-screen jodi. So, why were the two never seen together in another film? Amrita is as clueless as us. "Recently Shahid also expressed on social media that he misses working with me, which was very sweet. Why Shahid and I were never cast together after Vivah is a million-dollar question and something to think about," said Amrita Rao.
AMRITA RAO, A PROUD MOMMY
But Ishq Vishq and Vivah aside, Amrita Rao became a proud mommy on Sunday, when she and her husband, RJ Anmol welcomed their firstborn. "Amrita Rao and RJ Anmol welcomed a baby boy this morning. Both the mother and baby are healthy and doing well. The family is ecstatic and both Amrita and RJ Anmol thank everyone for their wishes and blessings," read a statement released by Amrita Rao's publicist.
In October, Amrita and RJ Anmol shared the news of the pregnancy on Instagram, and wrote, "For YOU it’s the 10th Month... But for US, it's THE 9th !!! Surprise Surprise ..Anmol and I are in our NINE'th month Already !! Too excited to share this good news with You my Fans And Friends ( sorry had to keep it tucked in my Belly All this long) But It's True... the Baby is Coming Soon... An exciting journey for me, @rjanmol27 and our Families... Thank you universe (sic)."
