Bangabandhu memorial museum opens in Khulna

KHULNA, June 26, 2021(BSS) – Commissioner of Khulna division  Md Ismail Hossain today formally opened the newly refurbished  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Srmiti Museum at the circuit house premises  .

Khulna district administration redecorated Khulna old Circuit House as  Bangabandhu Smriti  Museum to preserve the memories of the father of the nation  Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangabndhu    who was also the President of the then Awami League during his Khulna visits held huge meetings with the then Awami league leaders in sixty  decades and took major decisions from here against Pakistani  rulers  .

Khulna divisional commissioner visited  different rooms of the old circuit house and saw various historical rare pictures of  his 55 years life along with his family members and the then Khulna Awami League leaders and activists that were hanged  on the wall.  

Different clothes, materials , used by Bangabandhu and his parents, younger brother Sheikh Abu Naser and other family members have been preserved in the museum .

 “We have collected many materials, photographs, Bangabandhu’s facsimiles   and books  from veteran Awami League leaders and  parliament members,  Sheikh Helal Uddin, Sheikh Salah Uddin Zwel, sons of Sheikh Abu Naser,  Khulna,” deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain told BSS.”

“Around  100 photographs  of Bangabandhu, collected and  different books,   speeches and various  stories published in newspapers were kept preserved here,” he said, adding that a digital archive was also prepared.

He, however, said people could visit and buy all books on Bangabandhu, other books written by  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and books on Liberation War  by different authors from the museum .

Later, the divisional commissioner Md Ismail Hossain unveiled stones of ‘Circuit House Beautification project’, Digital rooms’ management and modern conference room, construction of main gate and modernization of collectorate building.

He also inaugurated second floor of modern collectorate jame mosque.

The commissioner also distributed sewing   machines among 42 distressed, jobless women and wheel chair and easy bikes among disabled people .

Additional divisional commissioner (General) Md Abdur Rashid, deputy commissioner Md Helal Hossain, deputy director of local government of Khulna DC office Md Iqbal hossain, general secretary of City Awami League MDA Babul Rana, Khulna Press Club President S M zahid Hossain, additional deputy commissioner (General) Md Yousup Ali, additional deputy commissioner (ICT and Education)  Md Sadekur Rahman, among others, attended the event.

Earlier, Khulna divisional commissioner received 20 ‘high -flow nasal’ cannula  for the serious coronavirus patients at his conference room.

S Alam, a leading business group of Bangladesh donated 15 cannula for Khulna Medical college Covid -19 dedicated hospital and five for Khulna General Hospital.
